Job Description
Station Manager oversees the Detroit Station and its Employees. The Station Manager serves as a Leader to Agents by observing and offering guidance, ensuring Safety and compliance procedures are followed, and reading and delivering communications to convey important updates. This role supports and supervises the Detroit Ground Operations Teams, Leaders, and other workgroups to ensure a safe, reliable, and ontime operation while providing Legendary Customer Service to our Internal and External Customers.

Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor staffing in all areas and verify that overtime is used properly, Oversee staff planning, hours, and OT planning and compliance
Oversee day-to-day airport operations to create a safe, secure, and legally compliant service-conscious environment
Drive performance processes by setting goals and objectives, monitoring results against key metrics, and holding responsible parties accountable for results. Meet or exceed performance goals through effective decisions
Monitor budgets and payroll records, and review financial transactions to ensure that expenditures are authorized and budgeted for the Station
Assure proper administration of labor contracts or agreements, emphasizing minimal labor disputes
Maintain a safe working environment and institute programs designated to help reduce accidents and injuries
Monitor functional work area risks, issues, and scope ensuring appropriate level of priority, visibility, and escalation
Monitor Station performance, build processes to implement improvement, and review processes and adjust as necessary. Own Change Management with a focus on communication and Change planning
Work closely with Ground Ops Partners as required (Network Planning, Airport Screening Managers, Affairs, Labor, etc.) Coordinate actively with all Departments to maintain the station's on-time performance
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Job Requirements
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Knowledge of operational safety and management
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services, including Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of Customer satisfaction
Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
Ability to listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and/or in speaking with others
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Ability to understand and apply information to contribute to the organization’s strategic plan
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, which does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in Airline Operations
Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge and meet all local airport requirements
May be required by Station Leadership to obtain a Customs Seal and meet all requirements to work international flights
Ability to obtain GSC qualification and comply with DOT (Department of Transportation) drug and alcohol testing program
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting (50lbs.), standing, sitting, pulling, pushing, squatting, climbing, walking, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and writing
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
