    Supporting the US Payroll Team, the Specialist will be responsible for processing the US Payroll and the delivery of Payroll Services to our US employees. The specialist will be responsible for the day to day operations, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of all services provided to the US based population.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    • Develop and maintain thorough comprehension and understanding of the Air Canada US internal payroll process, time recording and reporting, attendance tracking and reporting.

    • Responsible for the administration of multi state payroll processing

    • Ensure adherence to the collective agreements as well as provide guidance to internal customers in matters related to pay, time and attendance prescribed within the agreements.

    • Respond to payroll inquiries and investigate issues as they arise

    • Responsible for compliance of governmental and state regulations relative to payroll processing.

    • Within the guidelines provided by the Manager, develop, maintain and monitor auditing tools to ensure the accuracy of the US payroll.

    • Set up deductions and pay codes as required

    • Update worksite employee records as needed.

    • Responsible for compiling reports as required, including absenteeism

    • Provide training and guidance to internal customers who produce the payroll data.

    • Process and monitor required 401k plan transactions

    • Collaborate with other internal business units as required including Labor Relations, Pensions, Compensation, Legal, Benefits, Finance, Accounts Payable, and Employee Travel to resolve employee issues and improve employee experience.

    • Assist with various audits

    • Provide support to the HR team as necessary


    Job Requirements

    • Payroll and HR experience required

    • Mature self-starter with the ability to work under minimum supervision

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written

    • Strong analytical and organizational skills

    • Demonstrated strong customer service skills

    • Ability to exercise judgement, confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of tact and discretion

    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

    • Strong computer skills with the Microsoft Office suite and other software

    • Some travel required

    • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Workday, and ADP an asset

    • FPC or CPP certification a definite asset
