    Talent Acquisition (HR) Intern

    Within Talent Acquisition, our Programs & Pipelines Teams are committed to building diverse pipelines of students and Candidates interested in careers at Southwest Airlines. These Teams do everything from managing our College Internship Program to hiring the next generation of Pilots. As an Intern, you will support the Campus Programs as a point of contact for Intern class and/or support our DEI Center of Excellence. The Programs & Pipelines Teams include:

    Talent Acquisition is sometimes referred to as the gatekeeper of our Culture, as these Employees are responsible for identifying best-in-class, diverse talent for Southwest Airlines. Our Recruiting Teams respond to the staffing needs of our business and provide legendary Hospitality throughout the Candidate experience. As an Intern, you will be able to learn about the different functions of many Recruiting Teams. Possible Teams include:

    • Corporate & Technology Recruiting

    • Field/Volume Recruiting

    • Campus Reach (College Recruiting)

    • SWA Staffers (Contingent Recruiting)

    • Pilot Recruiting

    • Sourcing 

    Join Southwest as a Spring Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from January 31 through April 21.

    Work fully remotely, with opportunities to connect with your Team and other workgroups virtually and potential to travel to visit our Dallas, TX Headquarters.

    Dedicate a minimum of 24 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks, up to 40 hours a week. We recommend checking your Spring schedule now to ensure availability.

    Receive an hourly pay of $22 and receive a one-time $500 stipend on your first paycheck.

    Receive free, unlimited travel privileges for yourself and eligible dependents on Southwest Airlines.

    Interns will receive any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship.

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assisting in full cycle recruiting (attending cross-check meetings, sourcing Candidates, conducting interviews, participating in consensus meetings)

    • Participating in HR systems trainings

    • Planning Intern events and sending communications to the Intern class

    • Participating in hiring events

    • Managing and executing special projects

    • Analyzing data and presenting insights to Leadership

    • Completing other ad hoc tasks as assigned by Leadership


    Job Requirements

    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

    • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process.

    • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

    • Progress towards degree, major, or minor in HR Management, Training Development, Learning Technology, Organizational Development, Business, or a similar degree required.

    • Minimum Sophomore status. May not have undergraduate graduate date of December 2022 or prior, unless already enrolled in a full-time graduate degree program at time of application.

    • To be eligible, must be currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by your university at the time of application.

    • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.

    • Ability to work independently and the willingness to function as a part of a Team. 

    • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.

    • Ability to lift and move items such as tables and chairs in order to set up and break down classrooms. 

    • Oral and written communication skills.

    • Previous HR related work experience is preferred.

    • Strong interest in Talent Acquisition Programs or Recruiting as a career is a plus.

    • Event planning experience preferred.

    • Previous part-time job or internship experience preferred.

    • Involvement in campus organizations, clubs, or extracurricular activities preferred.

    • Membership in SHRM is a plus.

    • Previous Leadership positions are a plus.
