    Community Outreach Intern

    The Community Outreach Team ensures Southwest Airlines is recognized as a global trusted citizen, fostering authentic relationships that empower communities to thrive.

    Join Southwest as a Spring Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from January 31 through April 21.

    Work fully remotely, with opportunities to connect with your Team and other workgroups virtually and potential to travel to visit our Dallas, TX Headquarters.

    Dedicate a minimum of 24 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks, up to 40 hours a week. We recommend checking your Spring schedule now to ensure availability.

    Receive an hourly pay of $22 and receive a one-time $500 stipend on your first paycheck.

    Receive free, unlimited travel privileges for yourself and eligible dependents on Southwest Airlines.

    Interns will receive any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship.

    Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide support for Southwest Airlines giving, programming and volunteerism activities and associated events

    • Support in communications content generation for internal and external channels

    • Support in the creation and development of Team assets/resources

    • Perform topical research and gather necessary reports and data to inform giving, programming and volunteerism strategies

    • Support administrative procedures, such as data entry, promotional supply inventory and management

    • May perform other job duties as directed by Community Outreach Team

    • Complete capstone project on behalf of the Community Outreach Team


    Job Requirements

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

    • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process.

    • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

    • Progress towards a degree, major, or minor in Communications OR a similar degree required.

    • Minimum Sophomore status. May not have an undergraduate graduation date of December 2022 or prior, unless already enrolled in a full-time graduate degree program at time of application.

    • To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by your university at the time of application.

    • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.

    • Ability to work on and balance multiple projects simultaneously

    • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media

    • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and provide output of key findings

    • Ability to proactively communicate with Leader and Team regarding the status of ongoing initiatives
