Role Overview: Airline Information Technology (IT) Specialist
An Information Technology (IT) or Information Systems Specialist has a choice of aviation career opportunities. With the advances in computers, and a near-total reliance of them in most aspects of aviation, from the computerized payroll to the computers that monitor every aircraft’s location, information technology is firmly rooted in the industry. With constant advances in aircraft technology and the systems that support it, the need for IT specialists is constant and growing proportionately. An IT person may work at the help desk to support behind-the-scenes airline employees, or they may work for software companies that develop aviation applications. Help desk personnel often have to solve a variety of technical problems from servers to work station issues.
